Short Stories for Study and Enjoyment — cop.1934

Although many excellent collections of short stories for high schools are already available, there seems still to be a place for a book of selected stories that will provide a definite plan for the study of the short story as a type of literature. The introductory chapters offer a text for studying the development of the short story and its present form. Part I, the bulk of the text, contains modern short stories for study. Each story is equipped with (1) an introduction containing necessary information about the author and his work; (2) a set of general questions designed rather to help the student learn than to test his learning; and (3) a problem developing some particular aspect of the short-story form.

Up The Line To Death: The War Poets 1914—1918 is a poetry anthology edited by Brian Gardner, and first published in 1964. It was a thematic collection of the poetry of World War I.A significant revisiting of the tradition of the war poet, writing in English, it was backed up by strong biographical research on the poets included.
